Sounds like you chose a poor guild to try.
If it wasn't for the guild I'm in I wouldn't play GW, or Aion either as much as it's worth. For me the people in the guild are current, old, and potentially new friends. I have made some good friends in the guilds I've belonged to, and playing the game, chatting and having a laugh with them makes the gaming experience worthwhile. Try finding yourself a nice guild with friendly, helpful people. Search around and try different guilds until you find the one that fits. The best place to look is on the forums here, as the guilds who spam adverts in Kamadan and the like aren't generally going to be very sociable. Hope this helps |

Dreamer2008...Glad you asked the question about Guilds. Always wondered myself. I made my own Guild just for a place to go. I've been the only one in it for 3+ yrs (never wanted to run one or recruit anyone). I never play PvP for the same reason as you, but managed to earn GWAMM with little help.
Good luck with your search! |

If it weren't for guilds I would've quit GW. Says enough I think.

For me, Yes, short & sweet!
It's the same as on other games, once you find a guild that you enjoy being in or like minded people, the game becomes much more enjoyable. It's not required but will definetly enhance your GW's experience. Last edited by Zebideedee; May 19, 2010 at 01:50 AM // 01:50.. |

Thank you all for the replies, I guess I will find out in time what's good about being in a guild, when I will find the right one for me.

Socially, I've found smaller guilds are the best for forming good bonds with other players, but this takes time and occasionally playing together. The best advice I can give for joining a Guild to play with them is find a Guild with a specific focus. More specific than PvE or PvP. Faction Guilds - Usually part of big alliances and will often try to focus groups of players in Fort Aspenwood or Jade Quarry. They will also often from vanquishing groups for places like Mount Quinkai or w/e the Kurzick equivalent is. Elite Mission Guilds - Usually focus on only one elite area. This will be something like Urgoz's Warren or the Deep, or Domain of Anguish. These guilds I find to be the best. They are often helpful for newer people and more forgiving with team builds for who they want to take into the mission to complete the content. Because they focus on the one area they usually know how to complete it and how to adjust the group for obscure classes or builds. They will usually do daily runs in their chosen mission, but occasionally will also do other areas. Speed Clear Guilds - Good for people who want to make money. They can be really intense and unforgiving for new players but they will allow you to complete content you couldn't even dream of completing without a dedicated guild. My personal experience with these guilds is it's sink or swim, learn fast or go home. |

Its worth it just to stop getting all the spam asking you to join their guild.

To add my 2 cents:
As MagmaRed said, your problem is finding a guild that you enjoy. That could take a while, or you might get lucky, but it can be done. Don't be afraid to try out several Guilds until you find one you like. You can expect to find a whole range of Guild types, from new guilds that cater to new players, to PvP guilds, to RP guilds, to old guilds where no-one really plays anymore. Some guilds will be very active at planning events, some will be very social, some will be very silent. You could always join my guild - then we'd have 4 active players. |

Thank you all again for the info . For now I'm not decided what to do about a guild so I will just play alone until I think I know what kind of guild would be appropriate for me (to really know my play style) , it seems the only way...

1) Do I want to play PvP or PvE? 2) Do I want a Kurzick or Luxon guild? 3) Do I want to work on titles, farm, or something else? 4) Do I want to play GvG, RA, HA, AB, or Codex? 5) Do I want to play with other people exclusively or just when I need help? 6) Do I want to work on elite zones (DoA, UW, FoW, etc.)? 7) Do I want to help other people or just get help? Many of those I just listed have subset questions as well. But it really shouldn't be hard for you to determine what YOU want to do, then you should be able to figure out what a guild can offer you. All a guild does for you is provide you with people who have similar interests and goals. That doesn't mean they are exact, but that the people in the same guild have enough similarities that they can work together to accomplish what they each want. Also, it's not like by joining a Guild you are signing a contract are something equally binding. If you don't like the guild, leave the guild. But try to be polite about it.

@Arduin Yes I know it's not a contract but I don't want to be impolite, to make people lose time and virtual money because of me, so I prefer to enter guilds that I am sure that are worth trying to see if I could fit in. |

Just give a try.
if your current guild or alliance doesn't fit you, just change. Be thankful and leave them, and add contacts in your FL. You can stay in same alliance and change guild eventually. Be sure to check their timezone. If you are looking for socialization, check their age, it generally helps to find matching temperaments and subjects of discussions (you rather talk about school, games, cosmetic surgery, politics, about your mom or your children ? ^^). If you are looking for a long term/perennial guild/alliance, check if they use any system to coordonate their activities. Forums / online calendars... |

That... and also be wary of any guild recruiting you that will just immediately add you as opposed to getting to know you first, how you play, what you do in gw, etc... if they wont take the time to interview you before letting you in, then they're probably doing the same thing with all the other members they let in and are just looking to bulk up their guild as opposed to finding like minded players.

Find a guild with people that like to do the same things as you. And most importantly, have the same humor as you. You will find yourself sometimes logging in just to say hi and talk and laugh instead of actual game play.
I played single player for about 8 months of GW because I was nervous about joining a guild (this was my first MMOG). I've since made a lot of friends because of the guilds I've been in. Some don't even play GW anymore but we still talk. |

I played through Prophecies and Factions without a guild. Mostly solo. No problem.
Then in Nightfall out of the blue a group invited me. It turned out to be a guild group. After the run joined up, and it was the guild for me. Much more fun in a good guild that fits you. Of course, it is all too easy to find really obnoxious stinking guilds. Or, guilds that are good but just not your kind of folks or just not your play style. Same in WoW. I don't need a guild there either. But I have happened across some darn good ones that were a lot of fun. Last edited by wilebill; May 20, 2010 at 03:50 PM // 15:50.. |

Thanks again for all the good advices , they are really helpful. Good to know also that being Luxon or Kurzick doesn't matter much.
